Make sure you have good iris photos.
Usually people take their iris photos with me.
There are many places where you can take good pictures.
We also work with a number of iris photographers. You can go to them for high definition iris photos with the right light. They send these unedited photos to us and these are perfect to make the book for you.
You can also take pictures of your irises yourself, see further down on this page how to do this.
Where can you have the photos taken?
Currently, most iris photographs are taken in my practice.
However, if you live further away or in another country, you can also have your photos taken by an iris photographer. I currently work with a number of iris photographers in the Netherlands.
If you live far away from the Arnhem/Nijmegen region, please contact me by email or WhatsApp for an address closer to you, where you can have iris photos taken that are suitable for the book.
The photos must meet certain requirements regarding sharpness and exposure, etc.
Due to the growing demand for the books, there are currently several collaborations in various countries.
So, if you live in another country, let me know. I can send you the contact details of an iris photographer in your country/region who is familiar with my work, or I can set up a new collaboration with someone in your area. Feel free to contact me.
Here is a sample of the iris photographs I take.
I take these pictures with an iris microscope, which allows me to study the iris in detail. Although these pictures are not taken with a professional camera, they show the pure colors and special patterns that are important for iridology.
These photos are beautifully displayed in the book, so you can see an impressive view of your iris. Photos from an iris photographer usually have a sharper focus, but my photos show the unique beauty and details of your eyes well.
As an iridologist it is important to me to make clear images that are good for analysis and that can be printed beautifully. This way you can admire the fascinating details of your eyes in enlarged form.

Want to take your own iris photos?
For your iris photos you will need a friend to help you.
When taking your own iris photos, follow these steps:
- Have your friend hold a smartphone camera in one hand and a flashlight in the other.
- They should hold the camera close to and directly in front of your eye. The flashlight should shine from the side at a 45 degree angle.
- Place a dark scarf or blanket over both of you to cancel out any lights or reflections, creating a mini dark room.
- Look straight into the camera.
- Take pictures of each eye, so left and right
- Keep your eyes wide open. Use your own hands to hold your eyes open so that the entire iris is visible, if necessary.
- The goal is to get the iris clear so I can see the fibers.
- The corners of the eyes also need to be visible so that I know for sure which eye is right and which eye is left.
- Don't worry about the skin of the face being clear or visible. Only the eye is important.
- Please do not zoom in as this will reduce clarity and cause pixelation.
- Do not use flash.
Here's some additional explanation on how to do this exactly:
Camera Positioning: Your friend should hold the smartphone camera close to your eye, but not so close that it touches your eye. The camera should be directly in front of your eye so that it can capture your iris well. Ideally, the camera lens should be level with the center of your iris.
Flashlight Positioning: The flashlight should be held in your friend’s other hand. It should be held at the side of your head, about 6 to 12 inches away from your eye, and at a 45-degree angle. This means that the flashlight should be shining at an angle toward your eye so that the light illuminates the iris from the side. The idea is to minimize shadows and provide better illumination of the iris.
Light Angle: The 45 degree angle ensures that the light does not shine directly into your eye, which can be uncomfortable. Instead, this angle creates a soft illumination that makes all the fibers and details of the iris clearly visible.
There will be a small light visible on the side of the iris in the final photo, don't worry about this.
